State Rep. Jaime Greene, A U.S. Navy veteran from Richmond, today released the following statement on the possibility of more state funding being allocated to help China-based company Contemporary Amperex Technology partner with Ford to produce electric vehicle batteries in Michigan:

“Only weeks after our military was forced to shoot down at least one Chinese spy balloon for violating U.S. airspace, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer appears ready, willing and able to open Michigan’s front door to the Chinese Communist Party.

“As a veteran, I’m appalled this company may gain a foothold in the state of Michigan. Many Michigan veterans have bravely served their country to fight against tyrannical communist rule, and the governor’s willingness to negotiate with this company is an affront to all our military heroes.

“The lack of transparency on Gov. Whitmer’s part also is deeply troubling. Gov. Whitmer ran her campaign on being transparent with the people, but the public and the elected officials who represent them continue to be left in the dark. I will continue to strongly oppose the use of our hard-earned taxpayer dollars to fund the Chinese Communist Party’s efforts to expand its influence in the United States.”
